Breaking the Silence – Student-Led Mental Health Event Set for World Suicide Prevention Day
Conroe, Texas & surrounding areas — On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, the community is invited to attend Breaking the Silence: #Voices of Hope, a powerful community event held in honor of World Suicide Prevention Week, presented by local organizations- the Cassidy Joined for Hope Foundation and the Behavioral Health & Suicide Prevention (BHSP) Taskforce.
The event, hosted at Generations Church, will begin at 5:30 PM with a Resource Vendor Fair, followed by a main presentation at 6:30 PM featuring our youth, parents, veterans, first responders, faith leaders, educators, and community members for an evening of hope, healing, and connection.
“We’re not just talking about awareness—we’re creating a place for our students to express their needs and have meaningful discussion,” says Kim Hess of Cassidy Joined for Hope. “We want everyone to feel heard, supported, and reminded that they’re not alone.”
The event is free and open to the public, with mental health counselors available onsite for anyone needing support. The night will also include opportunities for attendees to engage with local organizations offering resources for youth and families. (See flyer for more information)
